Hey fellow parents! Our 8-year-old son hated reading. He was good at it, but it was a chore. He didn’t get any pleasure from the books, no feelings from the stories. Nothing we could find resonated with him. He would read for his twenty minutes a day then slam the book shut to do something—anything—else. Can you relate? ? When COVID hit, my husband lost his sales job and the kids were home from school, so we decided to do something as a family: we were going to write the book our son would love to read. ?So we sat down with our Minecraft-loving kids, and with their help outlined stories that would be fun and engaging, with characters the kids could fall in love with and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. A family, just like ours, who randomly woke up in Minecraft. But the parents didn’t know anything, so the kids had to show them the ropes. And just like that, The Accidental Minecraft Family was born. And with it, our son’s newfound love of reading. With encouragement from friends and family, we put them for sale online, and tens of thousands of kids have found a love of reading through them, too!
