During WW2, the British people faced terror and hardship on a daily basis. It’s hard for us to comprehend what that heroic generation went through. In Britain itself, many faced night after night of going to bed to the sound of German aircraft raining down death and destruction, not knowing if their house would be standing come sunrise. Far from Britain's shores, in the jungles of the Far East, the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East, across Europe, aboard aircraft, ships and submarines, British servicemen witnessed and faced death on a daily basis. They gave everything, including their lives, for our country and for peace, to one day be able to return home to their loved ones. Of those who returned home, many never spoke about it. This included former WW2 RAF bomber pilot Denis Elliott, who, like many of his generation, never spoke much about what he did during the war. After Denis almost died in 2018, his best friend managed to convince him to record his incredible life story. The result is their book '???????? ??????????? ???? ???????-??????????’. Denis was put into an orphanage in London age 3, suffered at the hands of an abusive foster father and had his life changed during WW2. He earnt his wings in Southern Rhodesia, formed his crew in Palestine and flew 23 operational flights out of India against Japanese forces in Burma, Malaya and Thailand.
