The reviews of our new book, "This Month I'll Research My Dream School: Rocket Fuel For Your College Admissions Journey," by top-rated educational consultant Johnathan Patin-Sauls have started coming in, and WOW! "A Concerned Parent" says: I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but the consultant came highly recommended by a coworker whose daughter worked with him to receive an early admission offer into UPenn last year. She was a smart girl but not "exceptional" in the way you might think necessary to get into a selective school, so I was intrigued. It's a slim book, 150 pages, more like a planner with some of the boxes pre-filled with to-dos and thought activities and room for the student to add their own things to the lists. I think it's genius that some of the short daily journaling prompts are leading and the rest left "generic" because the couple of specific ones seem to get him thinking and then he gets through the others quickly by making connections to other events in his life, which according to my coworker was a big part of the process in successful essay writing, as well. So on top of getting him to research his target school more carefully, I have a feeling the book is also indirectly forcing him to start brainstorming for the essay questions. Win-win, and I get to stop nagging. I would have paid twice as much for that alone. I can't wait for the author's next book in the series to come out next month.
